Consign with Trove: Fall Edition
Summer’s not quite over yet, but the Trove team is already thinking ahead to fall!
We don’t want the summer to end, but that’s how consignment works – our seasonal intake starts long before the next season begins. It might sound a bit odd, but it allows us to have the right pieces on our racks at the right time, so you can get exactly what you need.
Today, we’re sharing our bucket list fall items as well as a few more tips on how to consign like a pro. If you’re interested in working with Trove Fashion to sell your items and reduce your fashion footprint, read on!
When should I consign fall items?
Our fall season consignment period starts on August 15th. We will accept pieces for a few weeks (depending on volume) before starting to source winter items in October.
What’s trending for Fall 2023?
We would love to see the following items come through the doors this fall:
Colours: Earthy or jewel tones
Outerwear: Bomber jackets, leather jackets (oversized is a plus)
Footwear: Chunky loafers, over the knee boots
Pants: Wide-leg trousers, cargo pants
Skirts: Miniskirts, denim maxi skirts
Bonus: Anything cashmere
We’re particularly interested in transitional pieces that can bridge the gap as the weather starts to change. For more on this, read our blog post: Transitioning Your Closet from Summer to Fall.
Are you looking for specific brands?
We love Canadian-designed or Canadian-made items. We also love to carry pieces by slow fashion brands that are doing their part to reduce waste in the garment production industry. Please note that we don’t accept certain brands (click here for more information).
If you’re not sure whether we accept a certain brand, contact us: we’d love to hear from you!
Can I consign vintage items?
Yes! We love one-of-a-kind items, and vintage pieces certainly fit the bill. Keep these tips in mind when consigning vintage items:
Check the condition of each item and set aside items that have damage or stains as these won’t be accepted
Make any necessary repairs to buttons or zippers to get them into consignment condition
Launder all items prior to consigning and make sure that shoes and accessories are free of marks or scuffs
Bring in certificates of authenticity for designer pieces if you have them
How do I know if my piece is better suited for fall or winter?
Not sure how to tell whether you have a fall or winter piece? Be mindful of the weight: lighter jackets or knits are more suitable for fall, while heavy wool sweaters and winter jackets will have to wait until our winter intake. Same goes for winter accessories such as mittens, hats, and winter boots.
